FAQ

Submitting Recipes

How do I submit my family recipe?

You can submit your recipe using our Recipe Submission Form. Just fill out the required fields, attach any photos you’d like to include, and hit “Submit.” Be sure to check out our Photo & Submission Guidelines for tips on how to make your recipe shine!

Can I submit more than one recipe?

Yes, multiple recipes are welcome, every dish adds to the shared story of family traditions.

Can I include a story or memory with my recipe?

Yes please! Stories, traditions, and memories bring recipes to life and make the collective even more meaningful.

Can I share a recipe that was passed down from a friend or chosen family member?

Absolutely. Family is about connection, not just bloodlines. If a recipe holds special meaning in your life, it has a place here.

Is this only for certain types of families or cultures?

Not at all! This is a collective for everyone, whether you're preserving your great-grandmother’s matzo ball soup or your uncle’s kimchi recipe. Food is a universal language, and every tradition deserves to be shared.

What if I don’t have exact measurements or instructions?

That’s okay! Do your best to share what you know, cooking isn’t always precise, especially with heirloom recipes. You can also include notes like “a pinch of this” or “until it smells right.” That’s part of the charm.

What if somebody has already added the recipe I want to add?

Please do not hesitate to add your recipe also. There is definitely more than one way to make an apple pie for example. I have many Fruit Cake recipes and intend to add all of them moving forward.

Photos & Media

Do I need to include a photo?

While photos are not required, they’re strongly encouraged! A good photo helps others visualize the dish and makes your submission even more special.

I’m not a professional photographer, any tips?

You don’t need to be! The Photo Guide includes easy tips for taking clear, inviting photos using a phone or camera. Overall don't worry if the photos are not perfect, as an option we could remake the recipe and take fresh photos as we go. Just keep in mind that this may add a bit of extra time before your recipe appears on the site

Editing, Publishing & Credits

Will you edit my recipe before publishing?

Light edits may be made for clarity, spelling, or formatting, while keeping the original voice and story intact. For significant changes, communication will occur before posting.

Will I be credited for my submission?

Of course! The contributor’s name will appear alongside the recipe, with the option to add a short note or dedication.

How long does it take for a recipe to be published?

Publishing time varies depending on submission volume. Generally, it takes from a few days to a couple of weeks. Requests for additional details or new photos may extend the timeline. Each recipe is reviewed with care to ensure it receives thoughtful attention.

An email notification will be sent once the recipe goes live on the site.
